Suppose I really should have started a new thread after the April event....
Things to do - Painting Lines, Cuprinoling Stands, Decorating showers (not given up on them!)
23rd May
When I got to EF, it wasn't weather for any of these when I got to EF, it was wet, then dry, then a monsoon. Then the sun came out. Turned into a nice day for Painting, indoors and (if you wanted fried to a crisp) outdoors.
Alas, toilet and cleaning top of the Agenda - Scout Camp next weekend (no, we are not invited) cleaning of Marshals Portacabin too.
Elsewhere, mega grass-cutting session of paddock and sides of track. And more clearing and killing of muck and weeds from sides of track, now heading towards Esses 1. 'Scrutineering area' also weedkilled.
Many thanks to Andrew, David and Bert, and it was really nice to see Ally - the owner, who hasn't been out much this year, but hopefully he's on the mend now. And Richard 'broken wing' Stanbury and Tracey who popped in to say hello.

30th May.
Tried to keep out of the way of the little cubs. They were busy with buggy things with sails, and wee Finlay did a bit of mini-moto'ing and mx bike for them. But it was cold and wet.
Rest of toilets stocked and cleaned, including grid loo and new medical centre cleaned.
Wee low profile jobs done. Water tank had been overflowing last week, so DP was fiddling with that, then new loo seats fitted. On same loo, he just couldn't make up his mind which was better! Hole filled in on the tannoy cable drain. Holding Bay Container roof fixed. And the tyres at Hannahs sorted a bit - couldn't handle looking at the squint lorry tyres anymore!
Thanks to Ian Robertson, and JR who's been fitting an aerial to the Marshal's Portacabin.
All 3 date plates changed.

6/6/10 2 Sundays to the Bob Mac.
Miserable, pea-soup weather. 2 big boxes of hoodies and tee-shirts had been delivered, so it took a while to fold and sort them. New stock - Royal Blue hoodies, Red, Green and Royal Blue T-shirts. And lady shaped v-neck T-shirts in Black, Fuschia and Royal Blue (can't miss an oppor-chancity to advertise!).
David appeared when I thought I was going to be all on my own, so he spent the whole day cutting grass around the circuit.
Re-stocked the 'upstairs' toilets again. Only got 4 more times to stock and clean loos this year! Tidied the office a bit.
Got the petrol cans in car, in the hope that there's a chance for a mega grass-cutting session next weekend.
Thank you David! Think of more statements for the talking cones!

13/6/10.
Too much to hope for that it was dry. The grass-cutting squadron were out in force with all 3 mowers going.
Garry was and has been busy in the new catering bitty. I think we are hoping it'll be in operation for July.
Other jobs that got done - Power washer 'cube' filled. Spare rubber mats shifted. Showers cleaned. Power washer pump filled up and checked it was working. All the electrics switched back to how it was pre-Scout camp. Weeds massacred on Linton Straight.
Tyre wall started around paddock grandstand.. To try and prevent someone putting a tent next to it so no-one can see anything. Not convinced. Might shift it somewhere else, paddock space is valuable.
Many thanks to Andrew, Bert, David, Mose and Garry.

18/6/10
Don't often care to comment about a race weekend. However today has been really special, so thought I'd share.....
Circuit setting up went relatively smoothly, just how I like it, everyone kept out of my way til it was done.
Some blokes appeared and said they were going to be fitting the extract system in the catering bit of new portacabins... Nice surprise, but apparently I knew everything about it. Do we have power? er no... But I'll get the wee genny up for you. Do you have a long extension? No, but I can borrow one. Do you have a ladder? So I gave them our 2.
Then a lorry appeared to deliver stuff for new catering unit. A chip making thing I think. So that was a bit different. And a courier brought another 2 things in the afternoon.
Undeterred, the buildings were opened up, grid cones put out after the brusher was finished. And helped Agnes in office. By this time I had tempted fate by putting shorts on, but it didn't rain.
DP rang from France and was delighted that everything was done, no hitches, and I was just about to put generator on. And unlock the 'downstairs' toilets. the one with the dicky lock wouldn't open. A different key didn't work. So maybe some pliers to assist.... Broke key. Some helpful person offered advice. So I borrowed a screwdriver and challenged them to get it open.
Generator went on fine, got power to everyone after I realised I had main isolator on. What I found out about 8pm was I'd actually switched shower immersions off, and not on as I'd thought.....
Making up July's doggy bags down the bottom unit, when a bloke asked if I had anything to do with the circuit. He thought that he had stuck his tent peg into the water pipe as water was flooding his tent.... Temporary repair made by the guys, speedy trip to B&Q for me. Picking up master plumber Daddy who was black affronted being seen carrying basket of PLASTIC plumbing fittings. Back to EF, turned water off, I had the pipe cut before they took hacksaw off me, and the connecter in and water on before anyone noticed.
It was nice to get home sunburnt though!

26th June
Might as well do something useful while waiting for the post to come. Doggy Bags made up for the meeting. Helped Garry lay a concrete plinth for the Gas Bottles at the new catering unit. And fix a bit of rumble kerb at Hannahs.

27th June
Well, the office now looks like a bomb's hit it - that'll be me back for 3 meetings then! Lots of boxes of T-shirts shifted back into the office, so that I could get stuff in the cupboard where the T-shirts were. Then loaded up for toilet cleaning and stocking.
Grass cutting with all 3 mowers on the go.
DP was being Mr Fix it, replacing water tubs from fire points that seem to have gone, hose and connection on one of the outside taps. Looking at roofs, fixing roofs. He threw a bit of a strop when I asked him, cos he had the pick up to take a container of oil down to the waste oil bit. It was under the skip (so the rain if there had been any, wouldn't have got into it). He didn't twig it was an open container.... Oil absorbent properties of PigMatting demonstrated ably.... It was one of those You've Been Framed moments, if only we had a video camera, we coould make a fortune down there with out £250's.
New strimmer commissioned, we couldn't find any instructions of how to put the blade on it, but foound the pictures. Made a braw job of some thistles and nettles and bits down the tyres.
Date Plates changed on way home.
Thanks to Andrew, Ricky, and Bert.

4/7/10
Only little old me at EF today, with visits from Aly and Lucais.
Cleared the office. Put bits and bobs in the loos that I had in the car. Unloaded all the new stools into the shower block - because there wasn't a key (altho there should have been!) to put them in the canteen.
Cleaned the top loos, showers, medical centre. Put up new hooks in the ladies (they must have heavier towels than boys...) superglued one on - and yes I did glue a papertowel to my finger!
Shifted all the computer stuff and photocopier up to the office. And what you lot are interested in - all the sweeties....
Took stuff over to the tool shed, and filled cement tubs, ready to go out when we set the track up on Friday.
Stuck the circuit lockdown sign back on the gate, and changed the sign date plate on the way out.
Now off to do the programme...

18th July
Grass cutting - lots of, strimming - lots of.
Doggy bags made up. Then lots of hammer in repairs done, it's been a while since the circuit was looked at.
Some tyres delivered, ideal timing, new marshals post built just before 200m board, so if we have more marshals, a yellow flag at railway, will at least mean you can get through Pates under green flag.
Cement and brushes sorted in the sheds. Marshals Portacabin tidied. Marshals post at Pates adjusted. Lots of crap cleared from the bottom of the paddock.
Then some measuring done. Why was it left to me to break the news to DP? Anyway, Robertson's Removals have been booked for a fortnight on Sunday - standby, for more info. We think you'll like this one. If anyone wants to come down and lend a hand, they are welcome! Bring a video camera, almost certainly going to be some 'You've Been Framed' moments, should be an absolute hoot!
Thanks to Andrew, David, John, Bert, Mark Ward and his Dad, Bob and Andy Mcleod.
PS Thanks to Angus for the garden furniture.

25th July.
Down bright and early, since there was extra work to do...... During the Airshow yesterday, 2 planes decided to land, without permission and refuel. For some bright reason known only to them, they parked on the track, exit of Railway, and slittered fuel on the track. Even when they were told they were damaging the circuit, they continued. Chief Marshal Bob and Andy McLeod happened to be there, to see the planes, and proceeded with brushes (I know where I'd have liked to have stuck them) and cement. And then blagged the firemen (probably the nice ones who once let me drive the fire engine) to wash the track.
I expected a molten gunk of squidgey tar this morning, but it wasn't that bad, but very stained. And not as big as I had been led to believe - but that's men's stories for you...
Anyway, unloaded trophies, boiler suit on, closed off the tyres at Hannahs, they'd been opened up to let the fire engine access. Then hooked up trailer with bowser, loaded powerwasher and off I headed. Andy the Marshal, a new helper arrived, and we were just at Railway when the work party became 3. I powerwashed and Andy and David brushed. Lots of water, lots of detergent, lots of brushing, and the rainbows were still coming out of the tar, but it didn't break up, but looks ropey.
DP and Farmer going to assess tomorrow, and Council in to fix it. It isn't really on the racing line, although debated that it might be somebodies line through there...
After that, much grass-cutting, and toilet cleaning and stocking. And filling up of the bowser.
Then unpacking of trophies. And sticking of Club Badges - sods law is they arrived at same time as I went to collect them yesterday.
Many thanks to Andy Muldoon (hope we didn't put him off) and David.

1st August
Grass-cutting. Strimming. Date plates changed on the flower-pot sign, we did the road ones on the way home last night.
Last of the trophies 'badged'. All the rubbish taken down to the skip.
Much cleaning of showers - since we'd left the windows open and swallows had left a lot of 'presents' and mess. And Garry's been decorating a bit. That took a lot of time. New shower curtains hung up, if they'd invented showers and shower curtains in olden times, that would have rated up there with top medieval tortures.... Well for folk with knackered necks/shoulders.
Then it rained, lots. So grass-cutting and strimming was abandoned.
Got more stuff ready in the office for next week.
Now away to do the programme.
Many thanks to Andrew, John, Bert, Andy McLeod and Bob.

15/8/10
Brought all the sweeties down to circuit for the September doggy bags. And a little box of surprises for September.
Stocked all the toilets - just to see if I needed to buy anything for the meeting. Just need to clean them now.
Carted up all the juice and crisps stored in the bottom unit up to the office, and set them out to make up the doggy bags.
Tried to fix a broken slab at the toilet steps, not sure if it's worked or not. Then painted steps with anti-slip paint, and the toilet hand rails. Yes as usual, got quite a bit on me too. Steps look quite good at a distance, but need another coat!

22/8/10
Feeling about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, so made up the doggy bags. Grasscutting felt awful noisy (and no I wasn't drinking last night).
John put up some posters in the canteen, and then Richard, David and John put up the tyres that I'd not rebuilt at Hannahs, and then the banners.
We had an incineration job to do, and that took up loads of time. Bert got bored watching the fire, and decided to move one of the grandstands - it'll get put in railway in a fortnight.
A new shower rail was put up in the Ladies showers - to provide a 'change cubicle' for the shyer ladies. Boys - if you want one, just ask, but we didn't think you bothered so much. Checked out how busy the phantom painter had been - and he's been really busy, along with fixing things that were broken.
Marshals checked - we have a hire next Sunday.
One date plate changed on the way home.
Many thanks to Andrew, John, David, Richard, Bert and Bob and big thankyous to Garry.

29th August.
Early start as we were getting visitors. Marshals Hut open, and kettle on, and flasks raked out.
Unloaded shopping from the car. And once bike people arrived, got out of the way. Since Garry has done a fabulous decorating job on the mens shower changeroom, I thought the girls deserved a different colour too.
Grass cutting was on a marathon. David had in mind what he was going to do, so headed off to sort and fix the stacks of tyres at the pit entrance at the Esses end. By end of day, all fixed, and freshly painted.
Mose fixed a banner, and went to paint bits of the stairs up to the commentators booth - he is worse at getting paint on himself than I am!
Many thanks to Andrew, David and Mose. And Garry for all his hard work during the week.
